Team GB Paralympics - What's on Today?

Team GB won 3 medals in the space of 40 minutes last night. This takes our tally of golds to 28 with 63 medals overall.

Sascha Kindred won gold and broke the world record along with Ellie Simmonds in their 200m medley races, while Susie Rodgers set a personal best on the way to win Gold in the 50m butterfly race.

Also winning gold were Will Bayley and Aled Davies in the Table Tennis and Shot Put.

In the archery, John Stubbs and Jodie Grinham won silver with Jonathan Broom-Edwards also winning silver in the high jump.

And now on to today. Georgie Hermitage, after being inspired by London 2012, will be hoping to turn her World Championship into Gold today in the 400m T37 final (14:14).

Hollie Arnold is in action today in the Javelin with this being her 3rd Paralympics. She is hoping to better her 5th position from London as she is the current world champion. Her final is at 15:25, but before at 14:03, Stephen Miller (3 times Paralympic Champion) is in the club throw.

The men’s 1500m is one of four gold medals for David Weir in 2012 but this one will be tricky to retain. He is up against Thailand’s Rawat Tana, the reigning world champion (22:22).

Piers Gilliver and Dimitri Coutya are participating in the wheelchair fencing, with both being world champions in their respective classes. Their finals are at 21:17 – prelim rounds are throughout the day.

Ellie Simmonds is back in the pool again today to retain her 400m freestyle title, but the Ukraine’s Yelyzaveta Mereshko beat her at the world championships last year. Will Ellie add to her gold medal haul? See from 21:41. Also in the pool is Steph Millward in the 100m backstroke (23:21).

The first of the medals in the wheelchair tennis are up for grabs today with Team GB’s Andy Lapthorne and Jamie Burdekin in the bronze medal match (16:00). Also is the men’s singles quarterfinals where Reid takes on the Argentinian Fernandez, and Hewett is up against Olsson of Sweden (16:00).

Switching to the wheelchair basketball, the women are in action from 21:30 in the quarterfinals against china.

Shooters James Bevis and Ryan Cockbill are in the mixed 10m air rifle event (qualification 17:00 and the final 19:15). Phillips is shooting in the archery today (13:45) with further events throughout the day. Rob Davies (former rugby player) is in the singles final for the table tennis (15:45). In the Boccia, McCowan, Rowe, Wilson, Smith, McGuire and Steer are all in action today from 14:00.
